As part of the College’s yearlong 50th
Anniversary of Women at Saint Michael’s celebration and in honor of
International Women’s Day, Marianne Harrison will join Krystyna Davenport Brown,
the College’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement, to speak candidly
about Ms. Harrison’s experiences as the first female President and Chief
Executive Officer of John Hancock. They will also explore future trends for
women in corporate leadership, advice for those interested in pursuing a career
in the corporate sector, and how the pandemic has reshaped the workplace for
women.
Marianne Harrison is President and Chief Executive Officer
of John Hancock, the U.S. division of Toronto-based Manulife Financial
Corporation. Ms. Harrison, who is based in Boston, has responsibility across
all aspects of John Hancock’s operations. One of the largest life insurers and
fastest growing asset managers in the United States, John Hancock supports
approximately 10 million Americans with a broad range of financial products,
including life insurance, annuities, investments, 401(k) plans, and college
savings plans. Ms. Harrison graduated from the University of Western Ontario
with a B.A. in English and earned a Diploma in Accounting from Wilfrid Laurier
University. She is the current parent of a Saint Michael’s College junior.
